Implementation of advanced civil and environmental protection services, for the safety of citizens and the monitoring, forecasting and management of the conditions of the terrestrial, marine and atmospheric environment, through the development of user-driven programs and the use of information provided by data measurement (GPS and Galileo), terrestrial observation (sentinel satellites of the European Union), DVB and satellite telecommunication, from in situ measurements and forecast models.
Development of a permanent regional testing, validation and certification platform (Unmanned Test Range) for remotely piloted aerial and aquatic systems of any type and size that uses both the infrastructures already available in Sardinia and the already defined corridors of aerosegregated space.
Development of new technologies for robotic and human exploration of the Moon, Mars and Asteroids, including biological and medical implications and experiments on parabolic flight and orbiting space station.
Development of innovative materials and technologies for astronomy and aerospace, including advanced on-board systems for aeronautics.
Development of a system for the surveillance, tracking and prediction of the routes of objects orbiting the Earth (space debris, micro-asteroids, etc.), with the aim of increasing the safety of the orbiting heritage; support for the creation of a national Space Situational Awareness (SSA) center, in collaboration with other European centers, and definition of an appropriate headquarters for the operations room in the territory of Sardinia.
